First unveiled in 2015 with the Royal Oak Concept RD#1, this technology is the result of an eight-year interdisciplinary research project conducted by Audemars Piguet in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). The project brought together a dedicated team of academics, engineers, musicians, technicians, and watchmakers. Through a unique case construction, a specialized strike regulator, and patented gongs attached to a device acting as a soundboard, this innovation has revolutionized the acoustic performance of timepieces.
